PSSA Girls Soccer

June 11, 2009

The girls soccer team travelled to St Andrews Public School for the first round of the Soccer Knockout Competition. The game was tight and close although our spectators and coach felt St Andrew did always have the upper hand.

Ms Worthing was extremely proud of her team’s attitude and dedication to playing the game in an excellent spirit. They were cohesive and very supportive of each other as players as well as showing great sportsmanship towards the opposition.

Unfortunately they lost 1-0.

Naomi reports on Public Ambassador Day

June 11, 2009

I was selected as our school’s Public Education Day Ambassador and this is a recount of what we did as part of this program.

Getting up at 6.30am was not exactly a great start to the day. The bus arrivirng late didn’t help, now we were going to the Campbelltown Campus of the University of Western Sydney. Being stuck on a bus with no-one you know was not great either.
But as I and 252 other students soon realised today would be a day to remember. After listening to a man and 2 students give us a talk we set off outside.
It was later when we got into groups that the fun really started!
Firstly my group went off towarde the science lab. I nearly died, think of a big fire explosion so BIG that everyone thought they would die, then take that times it by ten and you’ve got what we saw.
Next we set off to get our arms plastered. I actually plastered a girl’s hand.
When we’d done that we went to a tent and held reptiles. I held a 12kg python on my shoulders, an iguana on my arm and a blue tongue lizard in my hands.
Off we went towards a pretend courtroom. Boy it was quiet and serious in there. To finish off the day we learned a little Italian.

But the day was not yet over as we travelled towards Revesby Workers’ Club for an awards night. We sat down and ate dinner at 5.30! Then we took our seats and waved towards our principals and parents. The awards night kicked off and everyone was awarded a badge and a certificate.
I waved goodbye to my new friends as we left for home.
