S1Baker Welcome Pepi and Gus!

In the holidays, Miss Hackney bought guinea pigs for our class!

Miss Hackney’s dad built the cage for them.

They are both baby boy guinea pigs. The black one is called Pepi, and the orange one is called Gus.

Pepi’s favourite foods are parsley and watermelon, while Gus loves to munch on celery and beans.

We are learning to clean out their hutch, and each week two people in our class have a turn.

On Friday, we gave Gus a bath with guinea pig shampoo but he didn’t like it very much!

Here are some photos from Pepi and Gus’ first week at school…

  1. Wow S1 Baker, you are so lucky to have class pets!
One of my reading group students said that you gave Pepi and Gus a bath the other day – did you learn anything interesting about taking care of guinea pigs?

Thankyou Miss Sallis for commenting on our guinea pigs!

Here are some instructions if you had to take care of Pepi and Gus in the holidays.

    Looking after the guinea pigs:

    1. Feed them half a bowl of pellets, a handful of lucern, and all kinds of fruit and vegetables everyday.

    2. Clean the hutch everyday.

3.You need to play with Pepi and Gus, and tickle them.

4.Give them a bath every month.

    5. We need to give them water everyday.

  3. That is so interesting! I look forward to reading more about Gus and Pepi’s adventures in your classroom.
