Newspaper Begins our Wakakirri Story

The Canterbury Express photographer came to our Wakakirri Dance rehearsal.

The paper is going to follow the development of our Dance story, The Reading Bug, from now until performance time in August.

We will create a blog link to the Express so we can all get quick access to our photos!

  1. Dear Belmore South,
The Dance Group is doing great from my point of view and I’m absolutely loving every moment of it.I have a feeling that we will not only just do good we will do fantastically great! It is also quite interesting that the theme is “The Reading Bug”, the dance group has put all their effort in which makes me proud to be in the dance group. 😀 I can’t wait until we perform at the Haldon Street Festival .
    King Regards,
    Diala 🙂 😀 😆

  2. Dear Student and Teachers,

    Dear Belmore South Public School
The dance must sound exciting. Really looking forward to watching it. 😆

  4. Dear Belmore South,
This morning the dance group had a fantastic time learning the dance steps. I personally really enjoyed learning the steps and even though it was a bit confusing at times I think Ms Papadis done extremely well putting up with us 😀 The dance group are picking up the moves with a blink of an eye and I think we can go far in this competition 😆
The dance group are putting all their effort in to this dance. The moves aren’t as easy as you think and as you know the theme is reading bug, we have a main character who is very popular but can not read and everyone wants to be him. I think that Puni is doing a great job being the main character, he follows along, catches the moves quickly.
    Happy Regards,
    Diala

  5. Dear Belmore South, 😆
Today the wakakirri dance group learnt new steps and I actually FINALLY GOT THE STEPS! I was very proud of my self and Ms Papadis because she taught very well and as we went step by step we learnt it, so far we have done 1 minute and we hopefully will get it done at the end of term or at least most of it :). The dance group have put all their effort in and tried their best apart from some giggling and chatting (ofcourse not me though) . If I had to choose between what was the best part of the dance group it would be what we are doing now which is forming 3 circles one around the outside, one in the middle (where I am ) and one on the inside, inside the little circle is the main character Puni. We have to do eight steps of those where we bounce then step over our leg then we sort of march to our lines ( I am at the front so far but everyone, during the dance will get a chance to be at the front). I am absolutely enjoying the dance group and, Ms Papadis your doing a FANTASTIC job! Keep it up and I am sure we can go far. Thankyou Ms Papadis for teaching us the steps very well.
    Happy Regards,
    Diala 😀

  6. Dear Belmore South Public School
It is great to see that you’re having great fun in dance and it actually is great that a photographer came to see everything. I hope that everything will go swell and good luck to the dancers. I wish you all the best.:)

    Kind Regards

    Christina

  7. Dear Belmore South,
Today the wakakirri dance group learnt a couple of new steps that were SO COOL! I ENJOYED EVERY SECOND OF IT :D. We were a bit confused at times but at least Ms Papadis laughed instead of getting angry. During a part of the dance I had no clue if I hadto turn or I had to bend down. We then went over some things again with the music and I personally believe that we put all our effort ( as usual ) and got the beats of the steps. I always say to myself
” NO THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PART NOW BECAUSE IT ROCKS!” Which means I am absolutely loving, enjoying the dance SO FAR it may only just get better by what I am seeing. Ms Papadis, I can not thank you any further for your patience and time teaching us the moves and KEEP IT UP!! 😆 Everyone in the wakakirri dance group, keep doing what you are doing
    Kind Regards,

    Diala

  8. Dear Belmore South,
I am really nervous about the Wakakirri dance to go and perform in front of 1000s of people.
Still I don’t care I am looking forward to it andIi hope we bring home the good news on the night or the next day.
    Happy Regards
    Chloe

  9. Dear Belmore South,
This time I am going to have a little twist in my article. I would like to ask anyone from the Wakakirri Dance group to answer my question. WHAT DID WE LEARN TODAY IN THE WAKAKIRRI DANCE GROUP? That is my question and I would be more than happy to see what you wrote! This morning the dance group was very busy working hard and doing their best. Personally I think that not we are all doing a superb job not JUST me 😀 And the reason is because when someone is willing to do something and puts their head to it I am more than certain that he/she will achieve it, it just needs practice and time. As I said before, anyone , just answer what we learnt this morning in the dance group. There will be no right or wrong it is what you think your learning and what you may need to improve on, because I can tell now that I am not perfect in doing the moves but it is because I am still learning at at this point, and it should be fine 🙂 The only reason I know I’m learning is because wonderful Ms Papadis is teaching us well, and in fact not JUST well AWESOMELY WELL! (Even though that may not be a word). So now, I would like everyone getting used to me complementing Ms Papadis on her effort and support she does to teach us in every lesson. As i said earlier in my article I would like to set a task to everyone who has a computer I recommend to at least ONCE a week to visit the school blog and write your thoughts about my articles or feedback, even talking about the dance group (which is what you are meant to be talking about) also to see my beautiful articles 😆 . I know that is way out of the subject but to make it a little fun for you to read but it takes me about 15 minutes to writes this because I started at 7:59 and it is now 8:15 but not when I publish this. Anyway, moving on , every week I would like to post up questions for anyone, doesn’t have to be in the Wakakirri Dance Group and I would really appreciate it! You can take some knowledge from some dancers and post what a great job we are doing, and it wouldn’t be nice just me blogging all the time, seeing me everywhere around the blog, I would 🙂 Another thing, is, to Ms Papadis, you are such a great teacher! The dance group is proud to have you here as our dance group teacher 😆 Your teaching us so well keep it up !
    Sincerely,
    Diala

  10. Dear Belmore South, 😀
    Diala’s Cool Article !
This morning and afternoon The Wakakirri Dance group finished the whole dance apart from some parts that need some finishing touches, we are so proud! This afternoon there was a visitor that I will help us during our performance. Guess what she is doing? Well she will do the lights for us and we are proud and  lucky to have Mrs. K . We learnt the coolest and most 😛 awesomest ( may not be a word ) finishing dance moves ever and I have to say it was even better than two years ago, however two years ago was still very good and fun. And finally for once we actually almost finished the dance AAAALLL the way from the start till a little part where we just stood there with blank faces saying to ourselves ” Woops I forgot!” said most of the people in the Wakakirri 😆 dance group,
“BUT WE JUST SPENT ONE WHOLE HOUR IN THE MORNING PRACTICING!” said Mrs Papadis. 🙄 However we shouldn’t be angry at her we should be angry at ourselves! Because poor Mrs Papadis taught us as hard as she can for nothing but eventually we got it. 🙂 Our performance is coming up so soon! I am worried and petrified! WE will also be performing on Education Day , The actual dance at the Entertainment Centre , and last but not least at the Haldon Street Festival!!! WE CAN DO IT BELMORE SOUTH! LETS MAKE OUR SCHOOL PROUD AND WIN!
Honestly I am not just saying this because I am in this school BUT I think that we will come back to Belmore South and share the wonderful news of us winning. All we need to do is put energy into our 😀 dance that is it! If we don’t it will look all sloppy and ugly then the audience might boo ( I don’t think that, that is what you want) I think that on the night we may just get so frightened that we put all 😆 our energy! Then at the end of the day, guess what?! We will be so extremely tired well at least I hope so. 🙄 Also Mrs Papadis is making our costumes with some fellow peers! I can’t wait to see them, I wont spoil it with some information I know, I may not even be correct but all I know is that, for sure it will look fabulous. No doubts , No buts, No nothing. 😛 I believe in the Wakakirri dance Group you are all great dancers. Keep it up 🙂 I hope you liked and had a great and fun time reading my not just so called “good” “fantastic, great, cool and awesome” article! 🙄
Thank you Mrs Papadis for your great effort in our dance. Thank you for making our beautiful costume (even though I haven’t seen it yet) I’m absolutely sure its cool. Only because you made it 😀
    Made by Diala 😆
    Happy & Kind Regards,

  11. Dear Belmore South, 😆
    Morning:
Firstly I’d like to say, welcome to our first day of term! This morning The Wakakarri dance group got back from a wonderful and exciting holiday, unfortunately most of us forgot a certain part of the dance. But as usual we got back on our feet and learnt the moves. Another thing that we NEED to improve on is , put heaps of effort in to this dance, energy and a no chatting. The reason we are joining is because this would be a great experience for our school to participate in the Wakakirri Dance. It shows if you are keen to dance and really want to be in this dance or if you just decide that “Oh my friend’s doing this so I’ll do it to” No it’s not what your friends want to do it is what YOU want to do because there’s not point in coming at all. 😆 Also this isn’t JUST a competition, it’s a dance that we do to show-off our dancing skills, so 😀 it would be a waste of time just joining only to muck around and talk all the time. (I’m sorry for getting so off track )
    Afternoon:
This afternoon we focused mostly on multi-cultural part. We have four cultures 1 is The African Group,Another one is The Arabic Group ( I’m in the Arabic Group 😀 ), An Islander Group and last but never the least The Indian Group. We make a square and group at a time we move into the square and dance! Apart from the cultural bit, we got told where we our spots would be and we had to stay there 🙂 because some of us got mixed up for where they needed to be. So we started all the way from the beginning till the end, personally it was a fun time! Thanks tom Mrs Fifita for helping the Islander group with the moves you did a great job  . We also have very enjoyable dance moves to show you on 🙄 education day. However, we will not be showing you the whole dance only a sneak preview .
Thank you for reading , Thank you Ms Papadis.

    Sincerely,
    Diala

  12. Dear Belmore South Public School,

This morning The Wakakirri Dance Group got told some 🙂 feedback from Ms Papadis by some of the other teachers when we had done our sneak peak preview of our dance. Ms Papadis told us that we had to build up our confidence which is very true so each time we come to dance we are a new person , a ,completely new person, new name , new confidence, new everything! We also changed some moves because we just thought that it would be easier like what it is now. Thank you Ms Papadis for the great moves! 😆 I though we did a lot better with our moves and we mainly focused on the parts when we changed our moves so that we could remember it. I think it’s a great idea because if you move on so quickly  we’ll forget it and think it’s still our old moves. Our performance is coming sooner and sooner every week and I hope we do well , I think we will no matter what because we have the support of our teachers and we have the best moves! What better can you have? I am glad that 😀 I participated in this dance because I love to dance. I found it so fun to learn the new dance moves because I was doing FANTASTIC! YAY! I can tell you that if we build up our confidence, stop looking at each other’s feet or looking around we can nail this 🙂 ! Every time I come to Dance rehearsals there’s just something about it that makes me think ” I am proud that we have Ms Papadis” . From the start of this dance I knew this was going to be awesome, superb , fantastically, GREAT! I can’t 😆 wait until I see how the costumes look like. It’s just so exciting. At times it may be a little hard and frustrating but when you know everything perfectly then you’ll be happy 🙄 to do this dance on stage but if you don’t know anything it will show on your face. It’s been such a great time dancing and I am more than happy to have Ms Papadis as our dance teacher because she doesn’t 🙄 JUST teach us the dance moves, she teaches us seriously but fun seriously so it’s not too serious it’s a way that we can learn so much better. If we don’t get the moves correct and we keep on making mistakes Ms Papadis helps us until we get it all correct and there’s no error, spot on which is so good  . Thank you to Ms Papadis again 😀

    Yours Sincerely,
    Diala

  13. Dear Belmore South Public School,

This afternoon we tried on our OUTFITS!! We had a rehearsal with the outfits that Ms Papadis designed with some of the students. We practiced as hard as we could and it is a point where we need to start being a little serious 🙂 ( Ms Papadis is for sure which is fantastic ) Our outfits and props are looking so good and I can’t wait until we perform in front of everyone on Education Day/ Week. I am quite nervous but I know that there is nothing to panic about because if you see them laughing the only reason is because they are jealous and say to themselves
” I wish I joined ” Which means they wanted to be in the dance group. Anyway, we can see the difference through out our dance if you compare us from the start and all the way until the end. Also for the dance group people you MUST WEAR SCHOOL UNIFORM THEN CHANGE INTO YOUR CLOTHES. 😀 It is tomorrow and I absolutely can’t wait! No one should be nervous or maybe if you are nervous a bit it is okay but remember act  like your’e just rehearsing by your self, no one is there , no on is laughing nothing. They are just cheering and clapping with joy. I wish good luck to everyone who will be dancing 😛 ( including myself ) , make sure you put in all your’e energy in and you don’t talk and laugh all the way through. Our dancing skills have improved so much and anyone can tell because it’s not sloppy it is just dancing with energy. 😆 I have a feeling we will do so well and it is a great way to practice in front of a crowd or a bunch of people. We hope that we have improved heaps from the last time we danced. You also may notice that some of our dance moves have changed a little bit, well the reason is because we thought that it would be easier the way it is now and we find it better to do the steps. For once I feel that I am good at dancing because usually I’m not so good and I seem to feel left out. But now it has all changed, I feel happier dancing , I feel more involved which is awesome. Thank you Ms Papadis for choreographing this with pleasure and in a great way. How can you think of all these moves?! They are so cool and wonderful, especially the music. Well done on matching it with our story line. Also did you know that our school is in the short list which means that I’m not sure if it was the judges but someone important loved our story ( The Reading Bug ) . Thank you to everyone who has helped in any kind of way, whether it was with the music , the outfits , the props anything. 😆 Thank you Ms Papadis .

    Sincerely,
    Diala 😛

  14. Dear Belmore South,

This morning the Wakakirri Dance Group got together and changed a few steps but actually they are looking fantastic! It has been a long way and now we are getting close and closer each day  . Ms Papadis fixed the costumes and she changed them around into becoming skirts which look very cool. Tomorrow we have a person from the newspaper ( I’m not sure if it 😀 is from the express or not ) and he will be looking at our dance, taking pictures and writing a little story about us. Also Irene, Lucas and Diala ( me ! ) will be choosing a title each . After the dance the host will ask us the questions that we memorized 🙂 and we will tell them a little about the dance. It is going to be a very good experience. I hope that everyone knows how important this is and that this wasn’t just a dance that we joined it meant something and I’m 101% sure that we can nail this and that  we will blow the judges away with our talent 😆 Now the Arabic Group have one more extra costume. It’s the … SHAKERS!! Mr Reyad (who isn’t attending our school anymore 🙁 ) has donated some shakers and we appreciate it so very much 😛 Also next hopefully if we 8) have a dance group then I strongly recommend you not only because it’s a great experience but because you get to work with the ONE AND ONLY….! Ms PAPADIS! 8) Anyway, I’m sure that we will do not JUST well/good we will do fantastic, excellent, wonderful, amazing, superb, a great job. Also I’d like to ask some cool and fun questions for anyone. I hope you enjoy it!

    1. How much did you like The Wakakirri?
    2. What was the best experience throughout the whole of the dance?
    3. Did you enjoy it as much as I did?
    4. Are you proud of Ms Papadis? (I surely am)
    5. Could you have put in more effort?
    6. If there was one favourite move of the dance what is it?
    7. Did you love the outfits? ( Obvoiusly I did )
    8. Did you learn a lot from this dance?
    9. Do you appreciate everything Ms Papadis done (Ofcourse!)
    10. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Ms Papadis!

The Wakakirri Dance Group is going to do well and I am sure of it. 😆

    Yours Sincerely,
    Diala

  15. Dear Belmore South,
Before I start with my blog entry I would like to inform you that our performance is TOMORROW! I can’t wait! Everyone wish us good luck we might need it. And I am one of the representative who gets asked questions and I’ve been practicing for ever and ever! Everyone told asked me ” Oh, how can you remember all that!?! Anyway.
This morning we decided that for the shakers we would double tie them and push them up to the top which I thought was a great idea. It was all Ms Papadis’s idea and I’m not surprised because her skills are unbelievably creative  Our dance has been the best so far I’m shocked because before it was getting better and better but now it is just too good. I love the dance moves and even though Ms Papadis promised she wouldn’t change anything else but unfortunately we did but it was only a little one and it is for the best. I literally can’t wait for tomorrow I’ve going crazy around the house asking my parents and sisters
” Should I bring this ? Are you sure? How about this one? 😆 but now I have finally settled and left my mother alone. Our dance moves are so much better the energy is fantastic 😀 , the happiness ( the smiles ) have been increased . the movements and sloppy and going everywhere , it’s just do the moves, be happy, smile, put energy in and definitely do NOT talk 🙂
Also this afternoon we got given a certain number 1, 2, 3 or 4 I was in 3 and we had to dance the whole thing with our number and the audience ( students ) would give any sort of feedback , good or bad . 🙄 I read the speech out in front of the Wakakirri group with Irene ( fellow peer ) personally I was very scared and I was really nervous that I missed a sentence ( woops ) but tomorrow I’ll make sure that I don’t miss anything , I promise and I will never ever let Belmore South Public School down. I want to thank Ms Papadis for the fantastic , helpful , kind , wonderful , lovely , time in teaching us. Also to Ms Pleasance for helping out and I’m glad that we have such awesome teachers.
    Thank you for reading.

    Sincerely,
    Diala 😀
