‘The Interrupting Chicken’

Today during circle time, S1 Amazon read the story ‘The Interrupting Chicken’ by David Ezra Stein.

It is a story about a father chicken that is reading a story to his child – except the little chicken keeps interrupting the father’s stories by saying the ending.

After reading the story, we linked the message of the story to our school rules of ‘Be Respectful’ and ‘Be a Learner’.

We compared what the little interrupting chicken did in the story, to how we should listen at school.

We decided that to be a great listener, we should:

  • follow instructions
  • show respect to whoever is talking
  • be kind with our body language
  • do the 5Ls
  • ask questions to the speaker when it is our turn

You can watch the story below…
