Belmore South Public School is situated on the fringe of inner city Sydney, New South Wales with around 220 wonderful students at our school. We are proud to be a calm, warm and welcoming school who can boast a population that comes from many and varied cultures. Over 50 cultures and even more languages are represented at Belmore South, with 96% of students coming from language backgrounds other than English. We feel this diversity adds richness to our school.
Our dedicated and enthusiastic staff are a passionate, dynamic mix of experienced and early career teachers. All teachers are university qualified and registered with the Institute of Teachers. We continue to maintain strong partnerships with universities such as the University of Sydney, Univeristy of New South Wales, University of Western Sydney and Macquarie University. Staff have an ongoing committment to continuing professional development with all staff actively participating in tailor-made learning programs specific to areas of need and interest.
Belmore South Public School, its staff, and its students have many notable achievements including: National Quality Teaching Awards, Premier’s Teachers’ Scholarships, 2011 Australian Human Rights Comission Cultural Story Award, Strathfield / Granville Area Debating Champions, Wakakiri finalists, performances at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and Sydney Opera House, and Premier’s Challenges in Sports, Debating, and Spelling.
In 2012, we celebrated our schools’ 150th birthday, or ‘sesquicentenary’.
