BSPS @ Wakakirri!

Congratulations to our amazing Wakakirri team of students, teachers, and parents. Your skills in dance, drama, public speaking, art, hair, make-up, stage-handing and so much more were essential in getting us there. This year, we earned awards for participation, public speaking, the spirit of Wakakirri, and the social media competition for our week – what a buzz!

Swinging with the Show Tunes!

The choir attended the second workshop with the combined ‘Our Spectacular’ choir, and are singing some fantastic show tunes in two and three part harmony, with two of our choir members performing in a solo ensemble group. One more workshop, and they will be ready for their performance inside the Opera House in September. Well done!

Debating Recount: BSPS vs. CPS

Written by Zana (Class Banks)

On Thursday the fifth of May 2016, it was the first debate of the year. Belmore South public school was the affirmative team and Campsie public school was the negative team. The topic for debate was ‘competition is a bad thing’. The first speaker was Jacinda. The second speaker was Darrell. The third speaker was Najib. Our last speaker was Kenda. Rahel was the timer person. Ilham was the bell person and Aseel was the chair person… the winner was Campsie Public School. We would like to thank Campsie Public School for coming, and Mrs Kassem for setting it up and for bringing food for the morning tea.

Interested in learning keyboards?

Today, Amy and Mark visited all the classes at Belmore South Public School. They wanted us to learn to play music. Amy showed us different sounds on the keyboard like guitar, drums, saxophone, a singer and even lots of instruments at once. Mark teaches music after school at Belmore South Public School and would love children to have lessons with him. – By Sunstone

2013 Bookfeast!

This year, four students from Years 1-6 were lucky to go the the Annual Bookfeast at Burwood RSL club with Miss Hackney.

We got the opportunity to meet over 30 authors and illustrators, get their signatures, and listen to guest speakers.

We shared a table with Cabramatta West Public School, and the author was Kate Forsyth. Kate was only there for two hours, but we asked all the questions we could while she was there! We also got to meet her sister Belinda Murrell who is the author of the ‘Lulu Bell’ series.

At the end of the bookfeast, we shared a special experience with Nick Falk (author of the ‘Saurus Street’ series) and his illustrator Tony Flowers. They drew each of us a personalised ‘Saurus Street’ illustration and beat us in a question contest.

At the end, when some of the authors had gone home, some students from other schools thought Miss Hackney was an author and even asked for her signature!!!

We love Bookfeast!!!
