Film Club visit FOX Sports TV Station!

This week Film Club went on an exciting excusrion to FOX sports television station.

Paul from FUEL TV took us on a tour around the station.  We saw how the shows are filmed, editied and then put to air.

We also got to go into the FOX sports news studio, stand behind the news desk and read the news off the autocue!

We learnt about all the amazing jobs that are involved in running a TV station…its not just about actors and presenters…there is so much more!  It was inspiring.

Everyone at the station was very welcoming and we had an awesome time!  Thankyou FUEL TV and FOX Sports! and thank you Mrs Zeini for your help on the day.

World Premiere of BSPS’s Great Schools Show Off Short Film

In grandma’s day schools were . . . different? from BSPS on Vimeo.

This year Ms Ella Pleasance called for interested Stage 2 students to join her in forming a School Film Club.

This Club has had the opportunity to learn much about making films. They have had a visit from a Fox Sports News Team and they will be going to the Fox Sports Studio later in the term.

Armed with film production skills they developed under Ms Pleasance’s guidance they produced a short film for the Great School Show Off Competition.

They didn’t win the Competition but we think their film is a winner and our community have shared and enjoyed it at our Education Week Assembly.

Film Club gets a visit from Fuel Tv!

This Term Film Club were lucky enough to be visited by the producers of Fuel TV!  During this visit we learnt all about TV production and all the amazing and diverse jobs available in the television industry.

We also got to have a go at presenting and using the Fuel TV camera.  We had an amazing time and the talk was very inspiring!  We will be visiting the television station that Fuel Tv is based at in Term 3.

So thank you Fuel TV!  We can’t wait to visit you in Term 3!

Film club have finally finished shooting the last scenes for our Great Schools Show Off competition entry.

Over the past two weeks we have been filmed our ‘olden days scene’, golden time activities, the stage 1 excursion, the use of technology in the classroom, art lessons, wakakirri, k-2 dance, debating, sport, cooking, library and lots more! We have learnt how to direct actors, produce shots and angles, use the camera and even do a bit of acting ourselves. It has been a great learning experience and everyone who participated showed great professionalism.

Now its time for editing to begin and, by next week, we will have our film completed and ready to view.

Stay tuned for the final production of our film!

Lights, Camera, Action!

After a long period of time story boarding and writing scripts film club have finally commenced production.  Last week the Short Cuts crew learnt how to use the video camera.  We discussed hand placement, framing shots, zooming in and out and recording.

We have already filmed wakakirri rehearsals, a science lesson with S1Baker and our opening scene.

The Short Cuts crew will be moving around the school filming all the wonderful educational experiences that take place here at B.S.P.S.  So remember, if you see the camera…act natural!

Stay tuned for our next update!

Short Cuts Update: Storyboarding Success!

This week in film club the Short Cuts crew worked very hard on fleshing out their ideas for our film and sequencing them onto a storyboard. They worked in groups and discussed the breakdown of each scene, camera shots, camera angles and character positioning.

Our next steps will be to write our scripts and select actors, props and costumes. Stay tuned!
