Diala’s Cool Wakakirri Article!

IMG_6319

This week The Wakakirri Dance group finished the whole dance apart from some parts that need some finishing touches, we are so proud!

We had a visitor who will help us during our performance. Guess what she is doing? Well she will do the lights for us and we are proud and lucky to have Mrs. K.

We learnt the coolest and most awesomest ( may not be a word ) finishing dance moves ever and I have to say it was even better than two years ago, however two years ago was still very good and fun. And finally for once we actually almost finished the dance AAAALLL the way from the start until a little part where we just stood there with blank faces saying to ourselves ”Whoops I forgot!” “BUT WE JUST SPENT ONE WHOLE HOUR IN THE MORNING PRACTICING!” said Mrs Papadis. However we shouldn’t be angry at her we should be angry at ourselves! Because poor Mrs Papadis taught us as hard as she could and all for nothing but eventually we got it.

Our performance is coming up so soon! I am worried and petrified! WE will also be performing on Education Day, the actual dance at the Entertainment Centre and last but not least at the Haldon Street Festival!!!

WE CAN DO IT BELMORE SOUTH! LETS MAKE OUR SCHOOL PROUD AND WIN!

Honestly I am not just saying this because I am in this school BUT I think that we will come back to Belmore South and share the wonderful news of us winning. All we need to do is put energy into our dance that is it! If we don’t it will look all sloppy and ugly then the audience might boo ( I don’t think that, that is what you want) I think that on the night we may just get so frightened that we put all our energy! Then at the end of the day, guess what?! We will be so extremely tired well at least I hope so.

Mrs Papadis is making our costumes with the help of some of our fellow peers! I can’t wait to see them, I won’t spoil it with some information I know, I may not even be correct but all I know is that, for sure it will look fabulous. No doubts , No buts, No nothing.
I believe in the Wakakirri Dance Group you are all great dancers. Keep it up I hope you liked and had a great and fun time reading my, not just so called “good” “fantastic, great, cool and awesome” article!

Thank you Mrs Papadis for your great effort in our dance. Thank you for organising the making our beautiful costumes (even though I haven’t seen it yet) I’m absolutely sure its cool. O

Diala’s Dance Questions . . . she wants your answers!!

IMG_6314

This afternoon our Wakakirri dance group got together and practised our dance from the beginning to the last bit where we still get stuck sometimes.

You shouldn’t be surprised  because our dance group is always putting in all their effort not just to dance but to arrive here. As I said last week, I would like you (the readers) to answer my question(s)however I have decided that it will be all kinds of questions. For example Did you like the dance? But I don’t want to spoil anything.

During our sessions of dancing we have put together great moves that will not only shock you but the audience. Has anyone ever wondered why Ms Papadis is such a great dance teacher? Well I think I have the answer, it is because she was BORN WITH HER TALENT!  So as I said before I will ask some questions, all you need to do is post my questions up with YOUR answers.

I’d really like to listen to everyone who wants to be heard :) Everyone ready?

1) What was your favourite part?
2) Have you learnt better dance moves?
3) If there was one thing you wanted to improve on, what would it be and why?
4) Are you proud to have Ms Papadis as your dance teacher? ( I AM! )
5) Do you enjoy dancing?
6)Do you ever think you can be a dance teacher?
7) Do you think we can make it?
8) Is there anything you think we can improve on?
9) From your point of view do you think that the Wakakirri dance group gets along well?
10) Are there any changes you would do?

Thank you for reading my questions
However, I have not finished my article.

We have been working as hard as we can during every dance session and personally, I think Ms Papadis is proud of us. WHO BELIEVES THAT WE CAN DO? If you can I would like to see comment and opinion.

And again thank you very much Ms Papadis for your time and effort that you put into this dance :) :D

A Challenge from Diala . . .

IMG_6314

This time I am going to have a little twist in my article. I would like to ask anyone from the Wakakirri Dance group to answer my question.

WHAT DID WE LEARN TODAY IN THE WAKAKIRRI DANCE GROUP?
That is my question and I would be more than happy to see what you write!

This morning the dance group was very busy working hard and doing their best. Personally I think that we are all doing a superb job not JUST me And the reason is because when someone is willing to do something and puts their head to it I am more than certain that he/she will achieve it, it just needs practice and time.

As I said before, anyone, just answer the question about what we learnt this morning in the dance group. There will be no right or wrong answer it is what you think you are learning and what you may need to improve on, because I can tell now that I am not perfect in doing the moves and it is because I am still learning at at this point, and it should be fine The only reason I know I’m learning is because wonderful Ms Papadis is teaching us well, and in fact not JUST well AWESOMELY WELL! (Even though that may not be a word).

So now, I would like everyone to get used to me complementing Ms Papadis on her effort and support. She does this as she teaches us in every lesson. As I said earlier in my article I would like to set a task to everyone who has a computer I recommend that at least ONCE a week you visit the school blog and write your thoughts about my articles and give feedback, even talk about the dance group (which is what you are meant to be talking about) also to see my beautiful articles.

I know that is way off the subject but to make it a little fun for you to read but it only takes me about 15 minutes to write this. I started at 7:59 and it is now 8:15 and it won’t be much later when I publish this. Anyway, moving on , every week I would like to post up questions for anyone, you don’t have to be in the Wakakirri Dance Group and I would really appreciate it if you answer them! You can gather knowledge from some of the dancers and post what a great job we are doing, and wouldn’t it be nicer than just me blogging all the time, seeing me everywhere around the blog. I know I would like to see other people’s comments.

Another thing, is, to Ms Papadis, you are such a great teacher! The dance group is proud to have you here as our dance group teacher You are teaching us so well keep it up !

Diala writes we learned “new steps that were so cool!”

Today the Wakakirri dance group learnt a couple of new steps that were SO COOL! I ENJOYED EVERY SECOND OF IT.

We were a bit confused at times but at least Ms Papadis laughed instead of getting angry. During a part of the dance I had no clue if I had to turn or if I had to bend down. We then went over some things again with the music and I personally believe that we put all our best effort ( as usual ) and got the beats of the steps.

I always say to myself ” NO THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PART NOW BECAUSE IT ROCKS!” Which means I am absolutely loving, enjoying the dance SO FAR. It is just getting better and better from what I am seeing.

Ms Papadis, I cannot thank you enough for your patience and time teaching us the moves and KEEP IT UP!!

Everyone in the Wakakirri dance group wants you to keep doing what you are doing! It’s just so right. Take a look!

Dancing starts early at our school

Dance is an important part of our school culture with the infants learning to move and string together steps every week. Dance happens in K to 2 when the primary are rehearsing for Wakakirri.

It is important for all children to be given the opportunity to take part in music, dance and movement activities. It builds their sense of rhythm, helps with pattern recognition and sequencing and also improves memorisation skills. Confidence as a dancer is a great social skill.

Here  are K to 2 grappling with the challenge of the Nutbush.

I FINALLY GOT THE STEPS . . . writes Diala

Today the Wakakirri dance group learnt new steps and I actually FINALLY GOT THE STEPS! I was very proud of my self and Ms Papadis because she taught us so very well and as we went step by step we learnt it.

So far we have done 1 minute and we hopefully will get it done by the end of term or at least most of it . The dance group have put all their effort in and tried their best apart from some giggling and chatting ( of course not me though ).

If I had to choose the best part of the dance so far it would be what we are doing now. It is forming 3 circles one around the outside, one in the middle (where I am ) and one on the inside. Inside the little circle is the main character Puni. We have to do eight steps of those where we bounce then step over our leg then we sort of march to our lines.

I am at the front so far but everyone, during the dance will get a chance to be at the front. I am absolutely enjoying the dance group and, Ms Papadis you’re doing a FANTASTIC job! Keep it up and I am sure we can go far.

Thank you Ms Papadis for teaching us the steps very well.

Nutbush K to 2

Every week the K to 2 students get to dance or do Zumba classes here they are giving the Nutbush a try.

Newspaper Begins our Wakakirri Story

The Canterbury Express photographer came to our Wakakirri Dance rehearsal.

The paper is going to follow the development of our Dance story, The Reading Bug, from now until performance time in August.

We will create a blog link to the Express so we can all get quick access to our photos!
