Congratulations to our new school captain for 2012.

Reremoana Stanley was elected by the students of Belmore South Public School.

Reremoana is the youngest of the Stanley Family. All of his elder brothers Chase, Kyle, Jamie and Mutu have been School Leaders.

Reremoana and the other two School Captain candidates, Stella and Dominic gave outstanding leadership speeches . . . thanks to Ms Sallis for the support she gave the leaders in developing their speeches. We are very proud of them and they will be great ambassadors for our school.

Congratulations to the rest of our school executive: Maggie, Madalyn, Sarah, Serena, Dominic and Stella, who were selected after submitting their CV’s and going through an interview.

They will be fine role models for the rest of the school in 2012.

Thanks to Mrs Harrison, Ms McIntosh, Ms Dongas and all the Leadership Teachers for preparing the students so well to take on Leadership Roles in our school.

Our First ever SRC Assembly!

Friday was memorable because it was our first ever official SRC Assembly. At this Assembly students were recognised for academic achievement, citizenship, sportsmanship and sporting achievement.

As the year goes on students will be receiving awards for reading and writing competency and we might even be treated to some public speaking and debating.

Today our special awards were to the 12 swimmers who will represent the school at the Zone Swimming next Tuesday 2 March.

Our Assembly Awards went to:

  • Stage 1 Base
  • Stage 3 Hollows

Congratulations on being the best of a great bunch!!!

Student Representative Councillors Learning How to Lead

Leadership doesn’t come naturally to all students. The skills need to be taught or developed if already there in the seed stage.

Every week Ms Wilson and Ms Dongas work with all the SRC members for an hour.

The SRC will be working together, with their classes and their teachers to provide leadership and promote ideas from their peers to the Council.

The Council will take the lead in areas of school fundraising and student led activities.

Student Council Representatives

Congratulations to our SRC class representatives and school leaders who were presented with their badges during last week’s assembly.

Each class, except the Kindergartens, elects one student to represent their class on the Student Representative Council.

There are 10 student councillors and they are led by our School Captain.

Each term 2 of our vice Captains will have the opportunity to work with the SRC.

The SRC will meet regularly and they will be responsible for organising School Assemblies on alternate Fridays throughout the year.

We are excited about how the SRC will operate this year and look forward to it organising many activities and charity events.

The SRC is mentored by three teachers: Ms Wilson, Ms Dongas and Ms Mealing.
