Recognition
The school has regularly received recognition for quality education. In 1998 the school won the National Literacy Award.
It was Highly Commended in the 2004 National Quality Schools Awards for its approach to improving student learning outcomes.
The school has achieved an Australian Quality Teaching Program Grant in 2006 to research the use of 3 D games based technology as a motivator for students to improve visual literacy and writing.
Ms Judi Leonard has been instrumental in upskilling the teachers in ICT. Judi trained as an Intel; Teach to the Future Master Teacher and she has trained over 20 teachers from our school, Wiley Park, Campsie and Lakemba Public Schools.
The School Principal, Gail Dyer, has recently been awarded a Premiers Harvey Norman ICT Scholarship to study Game Making in Primary Schools in England and Scotland.
Ms Pina Fanggidae, a Stage 1 teacher, has been asked to share her story as an exemplary practitioner who uses the Interactive Whiteboard to great effect in her classroom. Her story will be available for all NSW DET teachers to share.
The school has had a varietyof interesting visitors from local, interstate and international educational institutions and jurisdictions. The school enjoys a good working relationship with the NSW DET Centre for Learning Innovation.
We have worked closely with schools in our immediate area and hope to develop those connections further.
