Performances were lively and colourful.

What an evening of entertainment provided by all our students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The Choir performed under the direction of Mrs Klose.

Diala and Lucas delivered some corny and some cleverly scripted lines!!! (Mrs Klose)

Kindergarten were as cute as the animals they portrayed.

Stage 1 obviously enjoyed dancing, singing and moving.

The Stage 2 response song involved everyone in the song.

Congratulations to our drummers and Ms Stavrou . . . WOW.

The Dance group moved beautifully and the Stage 3 WAKA dancers and percussion were excellent.

Our guests enjoyed themselves and asked that you all be be told how amazing you are!!!!!!!

Arabic Dancers rehearse for Multicultural Day

The girls are very keen and are spending a lot of time practising. They are being taught by Mrs Zeini with the help of Mrs Khocheiche.

Haldon Street Success!

Dance group had an amazing time walking in the street parade, and performing, at the Haldon Street Festival in Lakemba on Saturday.
We arrived early, did our makeup, and put our walking shoes on to proudly represent our school.
During the street parade we handed out books, which were donated by our school library, to children along Haldon Street in order to spread the ‘reading bug’.
Straight after the parade we headed to the main stage to perform our story dance to our wonderful community.
Thank you to all the teachers, parents and students that turned up to cheer us on! We had an amazing time and could not have done it without you.
Check out some of the highlights of our day in the gallery below…

Now we eagerly await the final results for the Wakakirri prize….keep your fingers and toes crossed!

2Warhol’s Term of Buddy’s, Sculptures and Technology

2Warhol have been practising our dance which is a Hip Hop battle. We’ve been learning new hip hop moves and getting the chance to do our own choreography. Last week was Education Week and we were lucky enough to perform in front of the whole school and lots of parents. We got a really good response from the audience who cheered and clapped really loud. Don’t worry if you missed out as we will be performing it again in week 10 so come along then!

Last term 2Warhol kids loved learning about Space and visiting the Powerhouse Museum. This term doing a unit called ‘Stage 2 Saves the World’ which is full of important stuff like sustainability, pollution and climate change. Below are some pictures of some of the ‘Space’ work we completed last term. Stay tuned for all the excellent things we will be doing in our world saving unit. Especially some photos of us on our next excursion (ssshhhhh, it is at a secret location).

In our Creative and Performing Arts sessions we have been learning about making shapes and lines with our bodies. We’ve been making ‘scupltures’ out of our arms and legs and coming up with some really great ideas. Miss Stavrou gives us a stimulus and we have to work out how to represent it with our bodies. Some of these were a knife and fork, a zig zag, a circle and lots of fun silly ones too. See if you can pick what we are trying to be.

We have been doing Information Technology in class each week and learning how to use Macbooks and PC laptops. We’ve been focusing on word processing skills, inserting tables and formatting and soon we’ll be learning how to insert our own blog posts onto the stage 2 blog site. These skills will help us in school and work for the rest of our lives.

2Warhol was really lucky to get a visit from 1Matisse in Book Week for a buddy reading experience. Both classes had heaps of fun completing activities together and the older Stage 2 kids really showed leadership skills and played excellent role models. Miss Stavrou felt proud of all of us and our behaviour with the younger students.

Diala’s Wakakirri Diary continues . . . feedback improves performance.

This morning The Wakakirri Dance Group had feedback from Ms Papadis. The feedback came from some of the other teachers when we had the sneak peak preview of our dance. Ms Papadis told us that we had to build up our confidence which is very true so each time we come to dance we are a new person , a , completely new person, new name , new confidence, new everything!

We also changed some moves because we just thought that it would be easier. Thank you Ms Papadis for the great moves! I thought we did a lot better with our moves and we focused mainly on the parts we changed so that we could remember it. I think it’s a great idea because if you move on so quickly we’ll forget it and think it’s still our old moves.

Our performance is coming sooner and sooner every week and I hope we do well , I think we will no matter what because we have the support of our teachers and we have the best moves! What better can you have? I am glad that I participated in this dance because I love to dance. I found it so fun to learn the new dance moves because I was doing FANTASTIC! YAY! I can tell you that if we build up our confidence, stop looking at each other’s feet or looking around we can nail this ! Every time I come to Dance rehearsals there’s just something about it that makes me think ” I am proud that we have Ms Papadis” . From the start of this dance I knew this was going to be awesome, superb , fantastically, GREAT!

I can’t wait until I see how the costumes look like. It’s just so exciting. At times it may be a little hard and frustrating but when you know everything perfectly then you’ll be happy to do this dance on stage but if you don’t know anything it will show on your face. It’s been such a great time dancing and I am more than happy to have Ms Papadis as our dance teacher because she doesn’t JUST teach us the dance moves, she teaches us seriously but fun seriously so it’s not too serious it’s a way that we can learn so much better. If we don’t get the moves correct and we keep on making mistakes Ms Papadis helps us until we get it all correct and there’s no error, spot on which is so good .

Thank you to Ms Papadis again

Diala writes . . . Wakakirri practices getting really serious

Morning:
Firstly I’d like to say, welcome to our first day of term! This morning The Wakakarri dance group got back from a wonderful and exciting holiday, unfortunately most of us forgot a certain part of the dance. But as usual we got back on our feet and learnt the moves. Another thing that we NEED to improve on is , put heaps of effort in to this dance, energy and a no chatting. The reason we are joining is because this would be a great experience for our school to participate in the Wakakirri Dance. It shows if you are keen to dance and really want to be in this dance or if you just decide that “Oh my friend’s doing this so I’ll do it to” No it’s not what your friends want to do it is what YOU want to do because there’s not point in coming at all. 😆 Also this isn’t JUST a competition, it’s a dance that we do to show-off our dancing skills, so 😀 it would be a waste of time just joining only to muck around and talk all the time. (I’m sorry for getting so off track )
Afternoon:
This afternoon we focused mostly on multi-cultural part. We have four cultures 1 is The African Group,Another one is The Arabic Group ( I’m in the Arabic Group 😀 ), An Islander Group and last but never the least The Indian Group. We make a square and group at a time we move into the square and dance! Apart from the cultural bit, we got told where we our spots would be and we had to stay there 🙂 because some of us got mixed up for where they needed to be. So we started all the way from the beginning till the end, personally it was a fun time! Thanks tom  Mrs Fifita for helping the Islander group with the moves you did a great job  . We also have very enjoyable dance moves to show you on 🙄 education day. However, we will not be showing you the whole dance only a sneak preview .
Thank you for reading , Thank you Ms Papadis.
